2 personnes contemplant un coucher de soleil au belevedère de Vaujany
Indoor activity: child marvelling at the Vaujany Museum, Oisans (Isère)

This winter will be  / adventurous
 / exploratory
 / full of discovery

You’ll become a pilot, a mycologist, a snowmaker, or a dog-sled musher.

You’ll learn to identify animals by their tracks, alpine flowers by their scents,
how to prevent avalanches, and gain insight into the challenges of tourism development.

In short, the EMV is an immersive space of discovery — discovering nature as much as
historical heritage, local revolutions as much as the challenges of tomorrow.

Multisensory and playful, it invites visitors to touch, observe and marvel.
You’ll learn, too — and above all, enjoy playing together as a family.

The EMV is an ageless place for curious minds:
a journey of discovery filled with emotion and surprise,
action and sensation — and plenty of both.

What lies ahead? / A journey
 / An immersive experience
 / Captivating stories

After a spectacular and sensational arrival in Vaujany—one whose details will remain undisclosed—you will enter, almost on tiptoe like animals, into the forest.

There, before venturing further, you will be given all the keys needed to read this unique landscape: a multimedia installation will finally allow you to understand the formation of the scenery and what makes Vaujany’s geology so exceptional. You will discover the movements of the African and European tectonic plates, at the origin of the Alps, the evolution of the relief, and what makes it so distinctive.

An animated model, equipped with small optical theatres, will offer you a scholarly journey through the landscape: it will introduce you to the ridges and waterways, ski slopes and all the elements that shape the environment.

The adventure can now begin.

An immersive walk through the forest will then allow you to discover everything it is made of:

 / The wildlife
 / The flora
 / Mycology

The wildlife

You will finally learn who lives where, depending on habitat and altitude.

In the forest, you can have fun identifying animal tracks, recognising the call of the black grouse, or the grunting of the wild boar.

The flora

An immense interactive herbarium will help you identify the flowers you encounter along your walks—those hidden beneath your skis in winter and that bring life and colour to springtime here. You will also discover boxes full of secrets revealing the local herbal traditions, such as the recipe for génépi or mountain-spice jam.

Even the hidden breath of the trees will be revealed to you!!!

Mycology

You will become a knowledgeable forager or an outstanding cook.

A moment of pure scientific magic!

All of this is immersed in a highly stylised atmosphere which, through the use of immersive technologies, offers you a truly spectacular experience.

Men and women through time

Your journey will also lead you to meet the men and women who have shaped—and continue to shape—Vaujany.

Hidden inside small magical boxes that reveal their secrets, you will discover the life of the past: stories from local elders, the seasonal move to mountain pastures, and the first school bells. You will hear the travelling peddlers passing through, and be reminded of all the small trades once practised here…

You will then step into today’s Vaujany.

A preserved village, with its urban planning rules and architectural choices; a tourist resort, with its offers and development directions.

It is also here that you will discover the major enterprises, as well as the small everyday actions of life in the mountains. Whether it is reducing avalanche risks or maintaining the roads, you will explore the techniques and new professions (what exactly does a snowmaker do? What is life really like for a musher?), through videos and interviews with locals, technicians, and passionate enthusiasts.

Finally, you will also find all the local life here: our festivals, our dances, and everything that gives Vaujany its unique charm.

You will then engage with the challenges of development and the future, and after gaining an understanding of historical change, you will be invited to take part in political and strategic decision-making. Three “interactive walls” will allow you to explore major contemporary challenges, and to experiment with managing territorial policy—or simply to measure the impact of your own behaviour.

You will leave the enchanted forest enriched and enlightened, ready to take to the skies once again.

Because to conclude this remarkable journey, a professional flight simulator has been installed, giving you the unique opportunity to learn how to pilot an aircraft while flying over Vaujany and its surroundings—be careful, a crash is possible!
