Dès le mois de mai 2025, l’association Hydro 21, en partenariat avec la MÉTRO, le Grésivaudan, l’Oisans et la Maison Bergès, vous propose une année de festivités exceptionnelles pour célébrer 100 ans d’hydroélectricité.
This year marks a major historical event in the Oisans region, which is rich in history and heritage: the Centenary of the Exposition de la Houille Blanche, held in 1925, which helped raise awareness of the importance of hydroelectricity and renewable energies in the development of our region.
The Exposition de la Houille Blanche was a key moment in our country’s industrial and energy history, highlighting the hydroelectric innovations that shaped the future of our region.
Exactly 100 years ago, Grenoble hosted an event of international stature: the Exposition de la Houille Blanche et du Tourisme.
This landmark event, held on what is now the Parc Paul Mistral, which was then called the Parc de l’Exposition, highlighted the formidable potential of hydraulic energy, propelling our region into the heart of the industrial revolution. The event was a huge success, particularly in Isère. The slope, age-old enemy of our mountain farmers, became a major ally of economic and technological development.
With over a million visitors, this exhibition unveiled the technological innovations of the time and affirmed the role of hydroelectricity in economic and industrial development. A century later, its legacy is more relevant than ever!
