Roger, Jean-Claude, Edouard, Robert… About ten men, aged 75 to 90, share their memories of life in the boys’ orphanage of La Côte-Saint-André (Isère). Between 1929 and 1971, more than 3 000 orphans lived in this huge building, a former seminary, where they were subjected to educational methods from a bygone era. “You can hardly imagine what we went through here: almost completely isolated, under iron discipline, without love… only our camaraderie kept us going.” Moving testimonies from the past that give plenty to reflect on. In October 1929, when the County Home of La Côte Saint-André was founded, among the first 300 orphans who started the school year, 150 came from the Oisans region, including 75 from the village of Vaujany.
