Famille au ski à Vaujany, espace Alpe d'Huez

Vaujany is proud and delighted to host the "GFNY La Vaujany," a legendary cyclosportive event. Cycling tip: be sure to bring your approved mountain gear. Information and registration: https://lavaujany.gfny.com/

– The Long Route: After the 30km descent from Vaujany to Séchilienne, the Col de la Morte awaits you with its 15.1km climb at an average gradient of 6.7% and a maximum gradient of 10%. From the summit at km 45, you’ll tackle 30km of descent and rolling terrain before climbing the Col d’Ornon. The first few kilometers are at 3%, but the final climb to the pass reaches 7%. Ride at your own pace and don’t push too hard on this climb because right after, the biggest challenge of the day awaits you: the ascent of Alpe d’Huez.

Alpe d’Huez is 12km of pure joy on switchbacks with an average gradient of over 8%. When you finally reach the top of the village, you descend via Villard Reculas and pass the Pas de la Confession. Take advantage of the descent to relax and recharge for the climb back up to Vaujany. If you’ve exhausted yourself on Alpe d’Huez, you’ll be in trouble here. Be smart and save something for the final 5km climb to Vaujany, with gradients reaching up to 14%.

THE LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only finishers of this course are eligible for age group rankings, awards, and the podium. If you want to race and be ranked in your age group, you must complete the long course. The top 20% of finishers in each age group qualify for the priority starting area at every GFNY World Event.

– The Medium Course: The GFNY La Vaujany medium course may only be 60.8km, but you have to tackle Alpe d’Huez and the climb to Vaujany. The descent from Vaujany is a good warm-up through the valley, along the Romanche River to Bourg d’Oisans, where the famous climb to Alpe d’Huez awaits.

Alpe d’Huez is 12 km of pure joy, winding through the valley with an average gradient of over 8%. When you finally reach the top of the village, you descend via Villard Reculas and pass the Pas de la Confession. Use the descent to relax and recharge for the climb back up to Vaujany. If you’ve used up all your energy on Alpe d’Huez, you’ll be in trouble here. Be smart and save something for the final 5 km climb to Vaujany, with gradients reaching up to 14%.

THE MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: Riders on the medium course will receive their time but will not be ranked. All arrival times will be listed in alphabetical order.
