Visuel GFNY La Vaujany : ambiance, coureurs souriants au ravitaillement

On 21 June 2026, the Alpine roads around Vaujany will welcome cyclists from around the world for a spectacular day of high-mountain riding.

An International Cycling Event in Vaujany

GFNY (Gran Fondo New York) is a global cycling series held across several continents, bringing together thousands of riders each year on some of the world’s most stunning routes.

In Vaujany, the event takes on a truly Alpine character, set in the heart of the French Alps among legendary mountain passes and breathtaking scenery.

A Day of Cycling and Mountain Adventure

Starting and finishing in the resort, riders take on a demanding course that can be followed throughout the day from roadsides, mountain passes and panoramic viewpoints.

The event comes alive across the mountains: by lakes, through traditional villages and along the slopes of the great Alpine climbs.

An Immersion into the Great Alpine Passes

Each section of the route offers its own unique atmosphere.

High-altitude forests, long valleys, mountain lakes and open summits create a spectacular backdrop for the day.

From Grand’Maison Lake to the Croix de Fer Pass and the famous switchbacks of Vaujany, spectators can cheer on the riders in exceptional mountain landscapes.

The Long Course

  • 118 km / 4,000 m elevation gain

After a neutralised descent from the resort, riders quickly begin the climb to the Croix de Fer Pass (2,067 m).

They then descend to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne before tackling the Glandon Pass (1,924 m), a long and demanding ascent set in the heart of the mountains.

Combining sustained effort with sweeping Alpine views, the route requires careful pacing before the final climb back to Vaujany.

This timed race is part of the GFNY World Series.

The Medium Course

  • 43 km / 1,800 m elevation gain

Shorter but still challenging, this route offers the GFNY experience in a more accessible format.

From Vaujany (1,245 m), participants climb towards the Croix de Fer via Le Rivier d’Allemond.

After passing Grand’Maison Lake, a descent into the valley is followed by the final ascent to the resort and its famous hairpin bends.

A route defined by effort and Alpine scenery, with no ranking or competitive focus.
